A new dimension of cross-stitch
The Canevas collection by Charlotte Lancelot is a modern reinterpretation of the classic cross-stitching technique.
Colorful wool threads are stitched by hand on a base of perforated felt to create a pixelated effect.
With Canevas, Belgian-born designer Charlotte Lancelot has made a magnificent contemporary take on a classic technique, which successfully eludes the trap of nostalgia. The series includes rugs, cushions and poufs that may be used in combination, to create cohesive spaces, or independently as accent pieces.
The Canevas collection uses the cross-stitch technique to create unusual aesthetic compositions, drawn with thick colored wool threads over a base of perforated felt. Some designs manifest as pixelated and blurred flowers while others, like the cushions, seek to emulate more worn surfaces with abstract patterns.
All the elements of the collection are handmade by Indian artisans, using 100% virgin wool.
